October in June

Today, I watched the movie October on my Amazon Firestick. Before I say anything about the movie, I should say that Dhavan’s performance in the movie absolutely impressed me.

As far as the movie goes, it was quite refreshing to watch. It’s been quite a long time since I watched a movie whose sole purpose was to tell a story. No unnecessary detour to foreign locations to shoot some song and dance sequences with a bunch of extras. No, unwanted emotional drama or unearthly villains for the climax.

The pace of the movie was perfect, the scenes were well made, every character was relatable. Most notably the character of the Manager – Asthana, who was always seen firing Dan (Dhavan’s screen name) is seen trying to cover for him when he is in a challenging situation with his job, and ends up recommending him to another restaurant for a manager’s job in the later part of the movie. Just like in real life, people are mostly good.

It’s just the daily turmoil that keeps us away from being at our best. However, given an opportunity, all of us be good and do good.

A well-made movie with the right cast and the right direction.
